The very first low pressure domestic / commercial refrigerator made in Australia  started running on the 15th of December 1926 at Tyne Place off Mary St in Unley South Australia at the Garvie Factory.

 

All the components Viz crankcase,piston ,conrod,crankshaft,valve plate etc were all cast and machined on the premises.{The BUSINESS MANUFACTURED ENGINE PARTS FOR CAR MANUFACTURERS.GM and RICHARDS/CHRYSLER}            The evaporator was made from copper tube and formed into a coil.

 

A furniture cabinet maker Vaughan Pate alongside built an insulated cabinet to complete the whole refrigerator.

 

The inventors decided to call it the ICE-O-LECTRIC.
